Responsibilities
Location: Remote however preference is Washington, DC
The Public Policy Lead analyzes technical legislation and regulatory proposals for the purposes of developing policy positioning; mitigation of compliance and reputational risks; and supporting both the business and public relations strategies. The Public Policy lead will support Humana’s public policy efforts related to Part D, pharmacy benefit managers, prescription drugs, and pharmacy.
Collaborate with the Policy and State Affairs teams to analysis and summarize legislative and regulatory proposals for key business leaders on evolving public policy issues
Prepare public facing materials to support Humana’s regulatory and legislative initiatives, including issue briefs, talking points, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations.
Prepare analyses of regulatory actions and legislation, as well as summaries of key federal and state advisory committees/bodies for internal business leaders.
Represent Humana’s interests in meetings with aligned trade and professional associations related to prescriptions drugs, Medicare Part D, pharmaceutical benefit managers, and pharmacies.
Coordinate policy team collaboration and timely delivery of assigned work products.
Partner with legal and compliance to manage internal regulatory compliance risks
Role Essentials
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, health science, or any relevant field
7 or more years of experience in the evaluation of health care legislation and regulation impacting the health care sector and/or other policy development experience OR Masters level degree or higher with 6 years of experience
2 or more years of project leadership experience
Advanced critical thinking skills and oral and written communication skills (a writing sample will be required)
High proficiency in PowerPoint/presentation skills, MS Word, and Excel.
Strong ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
Experience facilitating meetings and communicating with Senior Leaders on complex topics impacting overall business strategy
Role Desirables
Advanced degree in Public Policy or related field
Experience working in a congressional office, executive branch agency, trade association, or public policy advocacy organization.
Experience in related to prescription drugs, pharmacy, and Medicare is highly preferred but not required
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Ability to conduct analyses of health care data, preferably Medicare data.

For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
