Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
5 years of experience as an individual contributor/security professional prior to management
3 years of experience overseeing an engineering and/or security engineering team for an organization
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in analyzing systems and identifying security problems, threat modeling, code auditing, data security, and design and security reviews.
Experience designing and implementing security features in software (e.g., services, applications, or development consoles).
Experience in recruiting and managing a team of engineers.
Knowledge of one or more of the following: software services, authentication protocols, mobile or Web applications, and network security.
Ability to prioritize and manage across multiple, often-time, sensitive initiatives.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
About the job
The Devices and Services Security and Privacy team is responsible for ensuring that all business units within the Devices & Services product area, including Nest, Fitbit and Stadia, build and maintain trustworthy products and service offerings.
Product Security Engineering is a growing team of security and software engineers within DSAP that manages vulnerability discovery and security analysis (e.g., architecture, design, implementation, configuration) throughout the entire developmet lifecycle of products such as cameras, tablets, smart displays and speakers, gaming controllers, thermostats, smart watches, fitness trackers and smart glasses. Our scope is broad and includes the full stack, including software, firmware, services, backed/infrastructure, and hardware components. In particular, our software services and mobile application work is expanding and will utilize a larger proportion of our resources going forward to identify and drive resolution to security issues.

Responsibilities
Inspire, grow, and manage technical talent while providing vision and setting technical direction for the team.
Be responsible for security development planning (services, applications, user interfaces), execution, and success of complex technical projects.
Cross-collaborate with other engineering teams and products teams.
Drive security engineering projects to eliminate attack vectors, improve detection automation, harden the platform, enhance our processes, and develop monitoring and intrusion detection systems.
Influence the technical direction of our products and platforms by providing technical guidance to ensure that new features and services are built with security and privacy in mind.
