Oculus Looking For Product Design Prototyper, Input Explorations at New York, NY Full Time

The FRL Input Explorations team is looking for a product design prototyper with strong technical, interaction, and interpersonal skills. This person will be the lead prototyper on an interdisciplinary prototyping team that is advancing the boundaries of how people control and interact with their experiences in spatial computing. The ideal candidate enjoys exploring ambiguous technology spaces, has demonstrated design thinking at breadth and depth (from strategic vision to polished micro-interactions), has expertise in interactive 3D features in games or other software, and does their best work collaboratively. You will be part of a broader full-stack hardware, software, and design team prototyping and exploring new input devices and technologies in AR/VR, with a heavy focus on end-user experience. As a design prototyping lead, you will be expected to help drive strategy and vision for new input devices and technologies by designing and prototyping interactions. You will be expected to use your full range of product, interaction, systems, and visual design skills to raise the craft of the team’s work.

Product Design Prototyper, Input Explorations Responsibilities:

Design, research, prototype, and implement interaction ideas for input technologies and devices

Work with a full-stack software and hardware team to realize interactions into experiences

Develop and iterate rapid models of proposed design solutions for the purposes of communication and evaluation

Design flows and visuals

Solve issues with your cross-functional leads

Think beyond incremental features and help design paradigm shifts for input in spatial computing

Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of experience shipping software products

2+ years experience leading design by defining vision and strategy, working with product partners, and collaborating with design and engineering peers

Experience solving ambiguous challenges

Experience with real-time 3D development such as Unity/C# or Unreal

UI/Interaction development experience for 3D products

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments

Experience leading a project or team by defining strategy and vision in ambiguous problem spaces

Experience collaborating with peers, such as design and engineering partners

A portfolio of work built in Unity or other real-time 3D engine

Knowledge of virtual reality and emerging technologies

Game development experience across multiple surfaces (console, mobile, PC, VR, AR)
