Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience or PhD in Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing and/or Human Computer Interaction.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.
Experience with the architecture and operational aspects of large scale distributed systems and with popular technologies in the machine learning/big data ecosystem (e.g., TensorFlow, Spark).

We are a team of engineers and research scientists dedicated to inventing and crafting the current and future generations of Android and Pixel user interfaces, particularly around interaction methods.
As part of the Android System UI team, you will work closely with Android Framework, Pixel software and hardware engineering, Android UX, and Google Assistant teams.
In this role will, you lead and collaborate with engineers, UX design, and HCI research scientists to focus on next generation multimodal interfaces on phones and tablets. You will be responsible for exploring, creating, prototyping, and evaluating new innovations, and integrating and delivering features in products. The ultimate goal is to fundamentally shape human-computer interaction experience industry wide for the benefit of the user.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with Engineering, PM, UX, and other teams to work on voice input on phones, tablets, and stylus computers.
Identify UI design and technology innovation opportunities.
Design and prototype multimodal interaction (e.g., voice and touch or stylus) feedback, editing, and error correction features.
Research user journeys of the prototyped features.
Deliver and integrate innovations into production codebase and systems.
