At Amazon Prime, we are obsessed with delighting our customers, and customer data provides a window into what they want. This data is both rich and complex. As a business analyst in Prime Sciences, you will help extract actionable strategic insights from this data. To do so, you will partner with world class business intelligence engineers and data scientists. You will create new visualizations of Prime data, powering automated company dashboards and user-interfaces. You will co-author high impact insight documents that support major company decisions. You will leverage the outputs of econometric and machine learning models, in partnership with scientists, economists, and data and software engineers. You will innovate on how data and artificial intelligence solutions are used to form business strategies. A person in this role will learn cutting edge approaches to causal and counterfactual statistical modeling, as well as how to extract relevant insights from this type of modeling. The role is unique in its exposure to senior-level business professionals, strategic decision-making, and next generation machine-learning tools, especially those capable of modeling causal and counterfactual relationships in data.
As a business analyst, you will be expected to use platforms like Amazon Redshift and Spark to build SQL queries, model metadata, build reports and dashboards, and create visualizations using tools like Amazon Quicksight or Tableau. You will also connect these visualizations to efficient, flexible, extensible, and scalable ETL designs and mappings. You will interact directly with business partners across Amazon, helping them create new business strategies. Finally, you will be expected to write about data insights in a strategically relevant way to senior business leaders.
The role is based in Arlington, VA or Seattle, WA.
Responsibilities:
§ Create analytic dashboards and decision-support tools, encompassing key statistical metrics to be tracked on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
§ Create world class documentation for democratizing data insight dissemination.
§ Establish key relationships which span Amazon business units and business intelligence teams.
§ Answer applied strategic business questions, writing documents on these insights for business leaders.
§ Consult business leaders on the appropriate tools useful for answering strategically important questions, directing them to the right insight in a timely fashion.
§ Create and analyze meta-data on the science team’s operational processes, helping the organization become more efficient.
§ Interact with scientists and engineers to extract timely insights from statistical scientific software.

MS in a technical or business field (e.g., business analytics, data science, economics, finance)
7+ years of progressively responsible work experience
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through final deliverable
Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of coworkers.
Ability to deal well with ambiguity
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and best practices.
Excellence in technical communication with peers, partners, and non-technical cohorts
