Amazon Photos helps consumers preserve and re-live their memories. The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show and Echo Spot. Amazon Photos is the latest digital ordering to consumers released on the heels of the Amazon Music and Amazon Video orderings. We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of the service around the world and delight our customers with a great product.

As a System Development Engineer for Amazon Photos, you will play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining critical internal services to the organization and its customers. You enjoy creating and maintaining critical team infrastructure, and relish the opportunity to automate solutions that can scale to tens of millions of customers and beyond, while ensuring data security and integrity.

Key job responsibilities
Designing, maintaining and automating systems that ensure compliance with worldwide legal requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA);
Designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure for team-level services, including networking needs (e.g., VIPs, DNS, routing);
Utilize AWS technologies to store and retrieve data while maintaining data integrity, security, and customer trust;
Ensuring team and org-wide certificates are kept up to dates to prevent internal and external service outages
About the team
The Photos Operations team is the paragon of customer obsession and trust. We troubleshoot a wide range of customer problems in order to maintain customer trust in Amazon Photos as the best solution to preserve their most precious memories.
We create the tooling and infrastructure needed to comply with legal requirements/mandates (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA) and liaison with law enforcement response teams to keep Amazon Photos safe for all customers.
We ensure that all Photos services and its hundreds of APIs are scaled to handle peak traffic events without service interruptions by creating and maintaining testing infrastructures.
In all of this, we share a strong camaraderie and team bond, working together to solve complex problems while having fun along the way.
Proficiency in Java and Python;
Knowledge of basic database querying in SQL or similar language;
Experience with AWS tools, particularly S3, IAM, Athena, DynamoDB, and Route53;
Previous experience with infrastructure pipelines (e.g., CI/CD);
Previous experience designing highly scalable systems;
Ability to break down highly ambiguous and complex problems into workable tasks;
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders across multiple teams
