Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, award winner of the Real Estate Agency Brand of the year in the 26th annual Harris Poll EquiTrend Study and a leader in the real estate industry, is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to join our San Diego Corporate office.

The Senior Accountant provides accounting support of a specialized nature to achieve department and corporate goals and objectives. Responsibilities include the compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial information needed for internal and external reporting, fiscal planning, and special project evaluation. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financials.


Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and distribute monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries, fixed assets, incentive calculations, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare reports for external auditors.
  • Train and mentor staff accountants.
  • Generate and assist in monthly financial and variance analysis reports.
  • Lead in accounting support for all companies.
  • Assist in the conversion of new accounting software.
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting/finance team and with other departments.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and collaborate with the finance department to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Apply organizational policies and assure adherence to departmental procedures.
  • Support Controller, CFO, and Accounting Manager with special projects.
  • Provide assistance and act as liaison with other departments, managers, and organizations of the company with questions and/or discrepancies.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5 to 8 years of operational accounting experience with financial reporting, general ledger, and ad hoc reporting.


Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel and computer skills. Ten key by touch, Word, and general accounting software programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
  • Must possess good organizational skills with a high degree of analysis, accuracy, quality, and detail orientation.
  • Industry knowledge is a plus.

:

Actual wage is based upon education and experience.
