Meta is seeking an experienced Lead Construction Manager to join our Data Center Engineering & Construction Team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. Building, operating, and retrofitting data centers the “right” way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability and capital conservation. The Data Center Engineering and Construction (DEC) team thinks from chip to chiller (or electrical substation), determining configurations and ensuring maximum efficiency of our compute infrastructure, and the DEC Program Delivery team is committed to continual optimization of the delivery process at each level. The DEC Delivery organization and its sub teams operate in a matrix team structure and the Geographical Program Delivery Manager will have the Geographical responsibility for New and Retrofit Construction project success (to include all data cabling infrastructure), GC and trade partner relationships, team member development and relationship management with key cross functional operational partners (Facilities Operations, Edge Network Services and Facilities Engineering to name a few) of campuses within a Geography in a culture of collaboration, safety and quality unparalleled in the data center construction industry. The Lead Construction Manager is responsible for project sizes up to $2.5B leading a team of matrixed Safety, QAQC and Project Controls (Cost + Schedule) professionals at site toward predictable outcomes. An LCM in a dual campus scenario will manage only one of the campuses and partner heavily with the LCM of the other campus. Both LCMs report directly to the Campus Construction Manager (CCM) for the region. LCM for a dual campus is expected to directly manage full time employees and may also be called upon to manage several contingent workers at points in the project.

Lead Construction Manager, Dual Campus Responsibilities:
Report to Delivery Campus Construction Manager, accountable for project and region success in: Safety, Quality, Schedule Milestones, Forecast Accuracy, GMP Accuracy

Responsible for the management, growth and development of the onsite team of Construction Managers (both Full Time Employees and Contingent Workers) and matrixed reports specializing in Safety, Quality, Project Controls (Cost & Schedule)

Responsible for promoting a culture of partnership, teamwork, and growth at the site level

Responsible for the management of major vendor (General Contractor, Cabling Partner, Trade Partner, Consultants) relationship at the site level

Responsible for the management of biweekly risk identification review process and provide reports (Includes Financial, Schedule, & Quality)

Responsible for the management of CapEx and OpEx budgets for the site. Partnering with cross functional teams for the development of annual capital project budgets including the provision of requested ROM construction cost estimates

Responsible for the management of warranty work program for existing data center buildings

Responsible to ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation for all new build, projects at a data center region as defined by predictability in: Safety, Quality, Schedule, & Cost

Responsible for the management of cross functional process for Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) procurement and delivery

Partner with cross functional teams to finalize project contract negotiations (initial and change orders) for General Contractor, cabling partner, trade partner and consultant scopes

10% travel to headquarters and other data center campuses

Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, General Engineering, or equivalent construction related degree

Minimum of eighteen or more (13+) years professional experience in commercial construction, or non-construction but related experience (ex. Fiber connectivity)

Experience delivering large scale construction management ($550M+ projects) or experience in hyperscale mission critical data centers from a lead construction management role

Experience delivering complex technical infrastructure construction projects with heavy electrical and mechanical systems

Experience delivering new greenfield, occupied space retrofit, and operational space retrofit construction projects

Experience successfully managing contractors, vendors, and supplier relationships as a responsible steward, partner, and collaborator

Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems

Working knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes and safety standards. OSHA 30 certification

Extensive experience with negotiations and experience providing solutions to problems

Experience working with a variety of construction contracting types (ex. Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Lump Sum (LS), Fixed Fee, Cost Plus, Progressive GMP, etc.)

Experience project scheduling software, critical path method (CPM), fragnets, updates, schedule development and analysis

Proficient skill in using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, Bluebeam as well as user knowledge of MS SharePoint

Experience working successfully within matrixed organizations

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Capital Budget Management on the owner’s side

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)

Proficiency in P6 and or MS Project

Proficiency with eBuilder software, Procore software, and/or BIM 360 software

Working knowledge of fiber connectivity scopes
