Optical Engineer – Imaging & Sensing Optics Responsibilities:
As the technical lead of a team of cross functional engineers, you will drive design, development and implementation of optics components for imaging or sensing applications, including component and subsystem requirements.
Establish engineering specifications, including key performance metrics, test methods, and test requirements for optical components and subsystems.
Work with diverse and highly interdisciplinary teams (design, simulation, process, test and characterization) and external vendors to scale up for high volume production.
Explore future optics imaging / sensing optics roadmap and scope out New Technology Introduction (NTI).
Up to 20% domestic and international travel required.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience.
Experience on refractive or diffractive optics development.
Experience in at least one optical design software package, e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTool, FRED and/or ASAP.
Experience of theoretical analysis using Matlab, Python or similar programs.
Experience in statistical analysis using JMP, Matlab.
Proven communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience.
Product development experience in the consumer electronics industry is preferred.
Experience working with uncertainty and lead the cross functional teams to manage the risk portfolio at different stages of product development.
Expertise in two of the skills listed is desired: Optical manufacturing experience on refractive or diffractive optics Stray light modeling and analysis Optical metrology and characterizationExperience in optical molding, nano photonics fabrication, or nanoimprinting. Optical coating development.
