This role is an opportunity to be part of building the future of the Metaverse by working with various parties in the ecosystem, including service providers, OEMs and system integrators, working towards a common mission to build Metaverse ready infrastructure. We are looking for an engineer to play a key role in re-imagining how tomorrow’s mobile and WiFi networks are built and are looking for people with a passion to work on a wide range of connectivity initiatives. The goal is to accelerate the adoption of Metaverse technologies including Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) by building and deploying infrastructure innovations to improve the Quality of Experience for users worldwide. This is a role for engineers who have a passion for building the most reliable, scalable, high performance and cost effective mobile networks for any access. As a Partner Engineer you will work closely with Meta Reality Labs (MRL) and other engineering teams on product features according to the roadmap and partner requirements. Further you will build and maintain strong engagements with our partners, especially North American service providers, to deploy and iterate on various connectivity products in real-world environments. Finally, you will support partnership teams in managing the technical relationship with key partners.

Partner Engineer, Connectivity Responsibilities:
Be a subject matter expert in various parts of the infrastructure stack across WiFi and mobile networks. Leverage this expertise to support Meta Reality Labs (MRL) and other teams in scoping, designing and deploying infrastructure solutions to deliver high quality in-home and mobile experiences for users

Collaborate with external partners, internal Engineering and Product partners within Meta teams. Identify and surface insights using metrics on product usage to increase adoption and provide new solutions that address the needs of our partners

Troubleshoot technical issues encountered during trials and deployments, in real-time cooperation with their engineering and second level operations teams. Work with internal technical teams on resolving those issues

Use a broad range of technical and soft skills to build productive relationships with our partners, and independently resolve complex technical and business needs

Help scale programs by contributing new features, bug fixes, documentation and other materials to both Facebook internal and open-source projects, jointly with product engineering

Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while sustaining self-driven productivity

Guide workflow changes, and gain consensus from stakeholders while driving to a solution. Understand organizational structure and cross functional team dynamics and be able to get support from multiple teams as needed

Work with partners to develop long-term strategic plans, grounded on business objectives, and support them in leveraging modern cloud infrastructure as a deployment platform for mission critical network services

Build and manage strong working relationships with technical counterparts. Mentor and share knowledge with peers, creating positive atmosphere amongst team

Identify and surface insights using metrics on product usage to increase adoption and provide new solutions that address the needs of our partners

Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while sustaining self-driven productivity

Work with partners to develop a long- term strategic plan, grounded on business objectives, and manage partners during feature launches

Willingness to travel up to 50% of your time

Minimum Qualifications:
4+ years of experience as a software engineer building and shipping products with experience in mobile infrastructure (LTE and 5G) or WiFi

Experience with core networking fundamentals (layers 1-3+) and internet protocol stack

Experience with Linux/UNIX systems and cloud infrastructure deployments

Experience in communicating with technical and business audiences

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Experience working with and managing technical relationships with Mobile operators and ISPs in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DevOps, CI/CD and/or Release Engineering tools and processes

Experience with public cloud services and tools for deploying/maintaining containerized applications e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform etc.

Knowledge of 5G RAN or OpenRAN interfaces (F1/E1/X2/Xn/NG) along with functional splits and key procedures
