The position requires an enthusiasm for Facebook technology products, and tech products in general. Candidates should have a strong technical understanding of how Facebook’s products work and the ability to explain them. Excellent writing skills, an affinity for technology and business press, experience analyzing media trends, and content development skills are crucial. Experience in using data-driven insights to inform communications strategies is a must.
This person should be highly organized, energetic, and detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask and work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. They will provide support for internal project management, steward relationships with internal and external partners, and ensure responsible sharing of data to inform key research questions.
Compile media clips & tech trends report on top new developments in innovation
Read, analyze, and summarize media coverage of important tech/policy-related Facebook issues, and tech industry as a whole
Stay informed on news cycle domestically and internationally
Monitor tech product launches, policy advocacy, and other announcements related to tech and innovation
Monitor media cycles for technology competitors
Participate in communications activities on some of Facebook’s most pressing and difficult issues
Partner internally with policy, legal, communications, and leadership teams to develop media strategies that protect our reputation
Build media strategies based on current events
Monitor social media activity that involves Facebook
2+ years of experience monitoring press and stakeholder relations
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Broadcast, or related field
Experience drafting messaging materials and creating news summaries
Experience distilling technology or policy concepts into consumer language
5+ years of experience at a technology or public affairs company
Experience owning multiples deliverables and working in a deadline driven environment
Experience working with technology press
