The NORAM Trade Compliance Operations Specialist is part of Facebook’s Global Trade Operations team, which sits within our Compliance organization in Legal. As Trade Operations, we partner closely with all internal business partners engaged in cross-border trade to enable them to move fast compliantly and efficiently. This includes Infrastructure, Facilities, Engineering, R&D teams, Consumer products, and IT Logistics. In partnership with Trade Legal, Tax and Finance, we educate, enable and empower the organization by building sustainable trade compliance practices that align to the needs of the business while also being scalable for a rapidly growing global footprint. The Trade Operations team is invested in aligning and operationalizing trade practices through a combination of training, responsive partnership, deep subject matter expertise, and excellent customer service.
Support the day-to-day import/export activities (transactions) in the North American region including daily interaction with the company’s customs brokers, freight forwarders and third-party logistics.
Frequent, daily usage of various Trade ERPs/Systems to get work done including case management, invoice review and generation and research.
Perform data analytics and reporting include ACE Reporting, and Dashboard reporting. This includes the ability to review and analyze data for trends, observations and make connections to issues.
Trade Program & Project Management across multiple business units.
Regularly present updates, metrics, etc. virtually or in-person to different stakeholders.
Support operational/transactional requests in coordination with internal cross-functional partners.
Review and approve documentation for international shipments – including, but not limited to commercial invoices, packing lists, export/import license applications, end user and other documentation needed to facilitate shipments.
Execute and lead on strategic projects in close coordination and collaboration with the global Trade Operations team and NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager.
Support the NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager on import and export classification reviews.
In partnership with the NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager, maintain required import and export documentation in accordance with relevant laws and corporate policy.
In coordination with the NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager, perform import and export compliance reviews and post-entry audits.
Serve as the primary trainer by which we execute new hire onboarding for the NORAM Trade Operations team in the North American region.
In partnership with NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager, develop and deliver trade compliance trainings for and to business teams.
In coordination with the NORAM Regional Trade Operations Manager, review compliance processes in North American region to streamline operational procedures and drive efficiencies.
Monitor and interpret regulatory changes in region and update business teams.
BS/BA degree
5+ years experience in trade compliance
Experience and application of the U.S. Customs Regulations & U.S. Export Administration Regulations in an operational environment
Experience in project management
Experience working across multiple time zones
Post-graduate degree in business, law, economics, finance, or related discipline
Experience providing operational support of a trade program in the high-tech industry
Customs broker license
Experience using or the implementation of trade management systems (e.g. Oracle GTM, SAP GTS, Amber Road, Agile)
Analytical and complex problem-solving skills, coupled with attention to detail and follow through on tasks and projects
Communication and collaboration skills and experience solving complex challenges while thinking creatively and remaining self-motivated
Analytics and reporting skills
