Facebook Open Research and Transparency (FORT) is dedicated to figuring out new ways to support researchers through data sharing, while working to help keep people’s information safe. The organization develops researcher products which include data access controls, analysis tools, APIs, and datasets that enable research on the impact of Facebook on society, in areas such as elections and democracy. FORT is seeking a skilled Program Manager to help continue to scale our offerings to the research community.Facebook is looking for a Program Manager to join the Facebook Open Research & Transparency Team (FORT). This person will manage preparation for a variety of internal and external meetings and events and, as well as assist with internal operational tasks needed to advance the FORT team’s ongoing Elections and Democracy efforts. This role will contribute to strategic projects and initiatives that involve functions across both research, product, and business. A person successful in this role will be organized, have strong communication and project management skills, be able to shift seamlessly between strategic planning and operational tasks. This person should be a team-player and eager to work in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment. Additionally, this person should be able to build breadth and depth around our Elections and Democracy work stream. Most qualified candidates should have interest and/or experience partnering with academia, governments, policy, democratic institution building, and product development.
Establish and scale collaboration programs, including being the lead on internal organizational content and information
Support daily prioritizations across core research projects
Collaborate cross-functionally and with internal and external researchers, and support strategic thinking with FORT Pillar Leads
Drive the development of simple tools and processes to provide ongoing tracking of progress & key milestones
Conduct core research and due diligence on new areas of research being explored
Partner with research and engineering leaders to organize key workshops & events
Assist end-to-end with tracking and project management lifecycle for research project(s)
Help Program Managers and Technical Program Managers with planning, prioritization and risk management
Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to fix them and manage risk
Drive internal process improvements, remove gaps, coordinate multiple parties and alleviate bottlenecks
Ability to map dependencies and relationships between research and teams
Establish strong working relations with all partners with an emphasis on unblocking team members when they are stuck and managing cross-functional engagements
Experience with project management, strategy, research, or operations
4 year Bachelor’s Degree
Experience with building presentations and developing compelling briefs
Experience managing projects and multiple tasks at the same time
Proven communication skills
Coordination and facilitation skills
Cross-sector experience or familiarity (academia, research, and/or government)
Advanced Degree
