Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in image quality evaluation
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in image processing and computer vision algorithm design development
- Understanding of one of the following: Voice Coil Motors (VCMs), image signal processor pipeline, 3A, depth sensor such as Time of Flight (TOF) or Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for photography
About the job
The team is in charge of the product, from research and developing algorithms, prototyping, and commercialization. Our team’s work goes directly into Pixel Phones. Specifically, this team focuses on autofocus, depth computing, and other advanced computational photography features. Our mission is to keep cameras sharp and clear; develop and support amazing computational photography features for Pixel Phone Cameras.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and define specs for hardware components such as sensors with Phase Detection Pixels, depth sensors (e.g., TOF, LIDAR), VCMs, optical zoom, etc.
- Prototype algorithms for image evaluation, calibration, and validation of multi-camera imaging and vision systems.
- Write simulation and tools in C++ or Python.
- Work with our partners in Hardware, Chip design, Research, and Central Testing teams.
- Contribute to building cameras and imaging systems for Google’s consumer hardware products.
