Minimum qualifications:
- 7 years of experience managing technical teams as a team lead or manager.
- 3 years of experience in site-level data center leadership.
- Experience managing and developing managers.
Preferred qualifications:
- 4 years of experience working in data centers and building out infrastructure.
- Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
- Understanding of networks and server hardware architecture, including maintenance and repair.
- Excellent strategic problem-solving skills.

Google isn’t just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google’s powerful search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting.
Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google’s Linux cluster). They will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.
As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will manage a team of operations managers and data center technicians, overseeing the quality installation of server hardware and components, and taking charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting. Additionally, you will stay informed on how the site is performing and anticipate and address challenges and roadblocks. You’ll also participate and lead global conversations, initiatives, and strategies, working in close collaboration with the data center site facilities manager and their team.

Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the hire, management, and implementation of multiple projects for your team.
- Ensure data center related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
- Oversee the computing hardware and networking operations of a data center site.
- Work with others to set and implement short-term and long-term strategy for the site, and identify problems and create solutions for computing and network architecture.
- Be the face of Google to the local community and lead the community affairs program for the site.
