Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of engineering experience, including 3 years of experience as an Engineering leader in a technology company.
- Experience leading global leadership teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience as a well-respected Engineering and Operations leader with the intelligence, vision and execution capability to drive large-scale changes within global organizations.
- Experience leading Manufacturing Test, DFM and Factory IT infrastructure and associated global efforts to efficiently and effectively optimize time to market, product quality, product costs, and product delivery for all business units.
- Experience with large-scale data collection.
- Experience in consumer electronics space.
About the job
As the Director, Central Test Engineering, you will be responsible for the entire execution of our manufacturing test stations including deployment of factory IT infrastructure across the entire portfolio of hardware products.
You will lead a global team in the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of production test systems, DFM processes and factory infrastructure. This will encompass supporting large volume products and first generation products in several new emerging technology areas.
You will oversee Manufacturing Test, DFM and Factory IT infrastructure and associated global efforts to efficiently and effectively optimize time to market, product quality, product costs, and product delivery for all the business units within Devices and Services at Google.
In this role, you will directly lead a team across functions including Test Engineering, Manufacturing, Software and Technical Program Management.

Responsibilities
- Manage design, execution, and implementation of manufacturing test solutions and engineering/operational product development processes and associated strategies; consider the competitive dynamics and surpass the rate of innovation in the consumer electronics industry for our hardware business.
- Lead a team of engineering-minded operations professionals to drive rapid time to market at immediate scale, maintaining product quality; own Manufacturing Test and Factory IT infrastructure from New Product Introduction (NPI) through End of Life (EOL).
- Lead cross-functional teams across other business functions and initiatives in close partnership with key stakeholder groups like Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Sourcing and Procurement, and Business Systems.
- Create a culture that balances agility and flexibility with the expectation of new products that can scale.
- Be a role-model of Google culture.
