Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Technology, or equivalent related field.
- 15 years of experience working with defining and implementing projects on process workflow challenges, finance systems and tools, finance business processes, and organization structure/operating models across finance functions.
- Project management experience across technical and non-technical project deliverables.
- Change Management experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
Preferred qualifications:
- CPA, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar advanced professional degree.
- Experience in applying Lean Principles, six sigma, agile, or recognized project management methodologies.
- Experience working with multiple aspects of a Finance organization (Source to Pay, Transformation Office, Compliance, Procurement) or a management consulting firm with business-focused deliverables.
- Knowledge of financial systems (SAP, Anaplan, etc.) and experience working with a range of other finance/business tools and platforms.
- Knowledge of processes surrounding financial planning, budgeting reporting, and spend management related to Marketing activities.
- Ability to act as a trusted translator between Marketing, Engineering, and Finance stakeholders.
About the job
As the Director of Marketing Finance Transformation, you will lead a broad scope of process improvement, system and transformation initiatives through the entire Marketing spend and Financial management lifecycle. You will influence leaders and teams across Finance, Marketing, and Engineering and leverage your experience of Finance capabilities to create plans and implement initiatives across organization boundaries that support our growth and scalability.
You will lead on complex, high impact programs in a matrixed team structure establishing overarching roadmap, strategy, goals, and objectives, managing scope and requirements and ensuring design of business processes and data needs.
The Google Marketing Finance Transformation team drives strategic disruption, continuous improvement, and change management in Finance, through process improvements, automation and operational efficiencies, and leading cross-organization systems initiatives utilizing fit for purpose technologies and tools to help scale and mature our Finance organization while further enabling our Marketing organization.
The name Google came from “googol,” a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
- Structure core Marketing Finance transformation systems roadmap with cross-Finance, Marketing, and Engineering stakeholders by defining and executing a clear roadmap, strategy, guiding principles, scope, objectives, and success criteria.
- Manage Marketing Finance’s process transformation roadmap across initiatives reflecting appropriate timelines and dependencies. Partner with business and technical program managers, reconcile competing priorities, align initiatives, and build consensus among internal and cross-functional partners.
- Establish and lead effective programs and project teams demonstrating exceptional program/project management. Drive frameworks and methods to analyze current state, identify gaps/propose improvements, evaluate solution alternatives, prioritize requirements, identify and design to-be future state, and drive consensus to achieve agreed set of requirements.
- Lead executive stakeholder management, engagement, alignment, and active sponsorship critical for implementation success. Resolve issues that arise across projects, understanding impacts to program timelines and other programs/projects.
