Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience working in a digital and or creative media space.
- Experience in advertising and in a leadership position as a brand marketer or in an agency capacity.
- Experience with media to ensure integration with creative teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with platforms and publishers who sell advertising.
- Experience with project and account management, ability to define projects and filter feedback through a strategic lens while working within timelines.
- Knowledge of Google, social, and native digital platforms’ effectiveness and creative requirements.
- Ability to build and maintain constructive working and communications relationships with a diverse community of technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management.
About the job
As the Head of Creative and Innovation within Google Marketing’s Media Lab team, you will lead the department’s focus on innovative and effective advertising for key product areas. You will also partner with the broader media and marketing teams to identify and execute creative media partnerships supporting a broad cross-section of Google’s marketing initiatives and products. You will oversee a team that manages the briefing process and ushers creative through the project lifecycle (e.g., creating a vision for this capability, socialization of a clear vision to the stakeholders, managing the team, and agency resources, some management of project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders and the team). You will keep all the players coordinated on creative progress and deadlines.
In this role, you will sit within Google’s Marketing organization and further within the Media Center of Excellence that supports all Google Product Areas. The team works to ensure that Media Lab sets the bar for data and insights-driven, effective advertising, and brings innovative media partnership opportunities to our priority product areas.
The team is a creative media center within the Media Lab that maps to priority marketing campaigns globally. A portion of the team focuses on identifying custom opportunities with media partners and platforms. The direct reporting team are all US based however there are dotted line relationships with aligned individuals in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) and APAC (Asia Pacific).
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for creative and innovation within Google Marketing’s media activities.
- Create a vision for practice, socialize, and organize to aim goals set forth. Define, evaluate, and improve creative development processes.
- Inspire and lead a team to build effective innovative, digital-rooted, creative, and media partnerships.
- Manage requests, project priorities, support workload distribution, and lead projects and efforts across multiple stakeholders.
- Provide frequent project feedback and updates as projects develop, and educate stakeholders and agencies on process and guidelines for projects. Add technical value to projects (as skills are developed) while working with the team in what’s required to move projects forward.
