Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience with product ops, strategy, and program management.
- 8 years of experience leading strategic initiatives in a matrixed enterprise environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience generating user insights in an entrepreneurial way.
- Experience converting amorphous issues into concrete problems to be solved.
- Experience influencing across levels and organizational boundaries.
- Exceptional problem-solving, strategic, and analytical skills, combined with proven business acumen.

Google Works is a core technology team that enables Google to scale. We are a sub-Product Area within Corporate Engineering, and we partner closely with Google’s CIO and their office to build innovative products that inspire and enable Googlers (and Google) to be successful.
As a Head of Strategy for Google Works, you’ll play a role in driving product and operational excellence, and business impact for Works and Google. In this role, you’ll partner with executives across Works and Google to design the strategy, evolve our narrative, and lead delivery against our strategic projects.
You will bring together teams across Google’s functions to help the Works organization execute optimally. You will be a lead in building our business strategy and executing on cross-functional projects. You will find and share industry trends and influences, and then translate these insights into strategies and programs which can be executed by the organization to build products that delight Googlers. Above all else, you’ll focus on developing a strategy for organization-wide initiatives using an understanding of Google’s business and industry context to drive initiatives.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
- Define organizational strategy in partnership with the Google Works Leads, aligned with Product Area goals and Google ambitions (e.g., multi-year business plan, product strategies, business cases).
- Articulate clear and compelling strategic narrative and build connections to translate narrative to execution.
- Provide recommendations based on analysis, experience, and solid judgment; communicate findings to leadership and influence the organization to act on these findings.
- Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making with audiences; lead execution against recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to develop strategic recommendations, execution plans, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve the operation of Works organization
