About the job
In this role at Google, you own and support the needs of one of Google’s server infrastructure systems. You’re highly technical and work directly with other server and service owners to ensure reliability and sustainability of the Google service infrastructure as well as compliance with internal policies. Success in this role means you are able to support servers in a mixed operating system environment and work efficiently with our internal technology providers as well as other operations groups. Googlers rely on your guidance when it comes to design decisions so you’ll have a direct impact in keeping the business productive.
As a Manager in Systems and Network Engineering operations, you’ll be a technical mentor and people manager for a diverse team, helping mold the team who deploy, build, monitor, maintain, and enhance Google’s edge infrastructure, including the Google Global Cache. You will anticipate future operational requirements, while ensuring the smooth running of a globally distributed infrastructure and software systems supporting the needs of Google Edge. In this role, you also will cover and participate in a full range of tasks, including systems design, operational implementation and maintenance, and business partner support of automation and workflows.

Responsibilities
- Manage a team as part of a distributed operations group of System Administrators, Technical Program Managers, and Managers who monitor performance and investigate anomalies, and resolve issues with Google’s content delivery network (CDN).
- Identify problems and drive cross functional solutions across our wider operations organization to increase operational efficiency.
- Mentor Engineers on career development and performance improvement.
- Provide operations and technical input to the broader team.
