Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with test fixture design, assembly and development, system bring-up, design validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with ongoing system monitoring and maintenance.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling tools such as Pro Engineer, NX, and SolidWorks.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation.
- Experience in test station development, factory testing, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, integration, and test system bring-up.
- Experience in a machine shop and rapid prototyping technologies.
- Experience with product data management systems (e.g., Agile, Windchill).
- Experience developing effective technical relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and technical engineering teams.

Our Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services. As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google’s continued growth.
As a Mechanical Engineer on the Central Test Engineering team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary group within Product Operations working on factory test development and bring-up for hardware products. You will test equipment, electro-mechanical systems, and fabrication methods to provide solutions to engineering problems, including fixture design, automation, operation, and troubleshooting of factory test systems.
The team includes test engineers, and technical program managers. You will be ensuring the successful integration and alignment of our factory test systems with the broader organization. Additionally, you will be coordinating the implementation of test hardware and operating procedures, analyzing results, and recommending changes to system designers and process engineers.

Responsibilities
- Work with engineers in test system development/product testing for Google consumer hardware electronic products.
- Design for manufacturability/assembly/test analysis and design for cost analyses for factory test platforms, communicating required design/material changes to contract manufacturers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Perform Tolerance Analysis of critical test fixture stack-up’s that interface with product features requiring high precision alignment. Interface with vendors/qualify strategic partners.
- Support factory production builds remotely and/or onsite at the contract manufacturing locations. Test station bring-up, qualification/validation, debugging and Failure analysis.
- Perform work in research, development, design, testing, analysis, and prototyping of test fixtures for technology integration. Perform system bring-up, design validation, DOE, debug/troubleshooting, and failure analysis investigation work. Use CAD tools to design prototype test fixtures, create product representations, and evaluate 3D models of fixtures/product designs.
