Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in public accounting or industry accounting.
- Experience with spreadsheet software, SQL, Oracle, and SAP ERP.
- Experience with U.S. GAAP accounting principles (Property, Plant and Equipment, Lease Accounting).
Preferred qualifications:
- CPA or MBA.
- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to support complex operational initiatives.
- Collaborative style and ability to work with cross-functional teams and international teams.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.

The Google Fixed Assets (gFA) team manages the global accounting for Google’s entire capital expenditure (CapEx) portfolio, manufacturing operations, and related expenses. This infrastructure is at the foundation of Google; the global data centers, networks, and integrating hardware, and software that powers both our unique customer products and services, and our internal operations. As a member of this team, you’ll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. As an Operations Accountant, you will be focused on running highly effective and efficient processes for asset setup, modifications and retirements, as well as month end close reporting and reconciliation processes related to property, plant, or equipment (PP&E) accounts.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
- Perform month end close tasks related to PP&E area (e.g. Fixed Assets ledger close, CapEx accruals, etc.). Manage asset creation and retirement processes, provide commentary for flux analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis, book journal entries for your related process, partner with business for new process/product implementations.
- Prepare and present financial information to different audiences, including finance leaders, business partners, auditors, and regional accountants.
- Find efficiencies in the processes through elimination, automation, and contracting.
- Support SOX controls for PP&E processes, run processes according to risk assessment and control frameworks, and escalate when risks are detected.
- Work towards constant improvements of gFA processes to drive higher quality standards in the fixed assets register, reconciliations, and reporting produced for local audits and close reporting.
