Minimum qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with quantum computing.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with research publications on the topic of quantum algorithms.
- Experience with research publications on either the topic of quantum error-correction, or near-term quantum computing.
- Experience with research publications on applications of quantum computers (e.g., in linear algebra, cryptography, quantum simulation, etc.).

As a Research Scientist, you’ll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more.
As a Research Scientist, you’ll also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects as well as from collaborations with research programs at partner universities and technical institutes all over the world.
You’ll work closely with the Quantum Error-Correction team to estimate and optimize the resources that would be required to realize these calculations on a fault-tolerant quantum computer. You’ll also work closely with experimentalists on our team to implement some of our algorithms on existing quantum processors.

Responsibilities
- Conduct research to help clarify potential applications of quantum computers, and to develop methods that improve the viability of those applications.
- Implement algorithms for near-term quantum computers.
- Ascertain the resources required to implement algorithms for error-corrected quantum computers.
- Apply various areas of interest such as simulation, linear algebra, machine learning, differential equations, and cryptography.
