Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience managing technical projects.
- Experience in leading projects.
- Experience with mission critical equipment/environments in one or more disciplines and start up/commissioning processes.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Construction Engineering, or related technical field.
- Experience with planning and retrofitting of operational data center infrastructure, and/or managing, operating, and upgrading large scale distributed systems.
- Excellent problem solver with effective verbal/written communication and facilitation skills.
- Comfortable shifting between detailed analysis and big picture thinking while customizing communication based on the audience.
About the job
As the Global programs Front End Planning Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading the successful planning and delivery of a Global Retrofit/Upgrades Programs Portfolio, to be executed within operational Data Center campuses. Global Retrofit/Upgrades programs have a wide variety of projects such as new Mechanical/Electrical Products cut in, Controls and automation refresh or operational improvements within Google Data Centers. These are most often multi disciplinary, complex and large scale projects that need planning to ensure smooth execution at Global scale.
You will plan requirements with internal customers and ensure project success through the entire project lifecycle. This includes developing project goals and scope, success criteria, building business cases, and pitching to management for approvals of capital investment based on solid data driven analysis and strategic/tactical considerations.
Working with internal customer groups, the team will plan and oversee projects from start to finish, from design and build to upgrade and remediation work within the existing Global Data Center footprint. Collaborating with regional partners, our design and onsite construction teams, you will enable delivery of innovative and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities
- Develop the vision, strategy, and short/long-term roadmap of Global Retrofit Programs team to enable scale, efficiency, and maturity.
- Lead the collaboration among Global Retrofit programs, Project Controls, Construction Management, and data center operations teams to ensure alignment with procurement and execution strategies.
- Conduct feasibility assessments, develop project plans, cost, and schedule estimates in collaboration with data center execution team subject matter experts to present technical and business cases to executives.
- Lead the concept, planning, and construction phases of Global Retrofit programs. Be responsible for development of technical documents and standards, program plans, risk monitoring/mitigation, and portfolio reporting to ensure predictable delivery.
