Google Hiring for UX Design Manager, Health, Care Studio at Palo Alto, CA Full Time
Minimum qualifications:
- 12 years of experience in UX Design
- 3 years of experience managing or leading design teams
- Portfolio of UX-focused work samples for web and mobile applications
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Design, HCI, CS or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Experience balancing product, development, and user-centered goals to help shape overall product strategy
- Experience working on a product from inception to shipment, including detailed interaction specifications, complex information design, user flows, information architecture and prototyping skills
- Experience designing UX for one or more of these spaces: enterprise healthcare, healthcare data, cloud, data warehousing/analytics, developer tooling and/or other technically complex, highly regulated enterprise domains
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
About the job
As the Design Manager leading a core Care Studio design team, you’ll work alongside our team of engineers, clinicians, researchers and other healthcare experts to invent the next generation of experiences for clinicians. You are an experienced, creative UX leader who is passionate about healthcare.
In this role, you’ll balance design leadership, innovation, and execution to drive forward the design system and language of our products. You’ll have an opportunity to work closely with physicians and see your work go live in a healthcare environment. You must have the ability to engage across Google while building strong relationships with Product and Engineering counterparts.
Google Health has made major advances in healthcare research, such as detecting eye disease more quickly and accurately than experts, planning cancer radiotherapy treatment in seconds rather than hours, and working to detect patient deterioration before it happens with electronic records.
Fundamental research is at the core of Google Health – the multidisciplinary team collaborates with partners to publish novel research in renowned scientific journals. They then work to apply this research into the medical field through clinical hardware and products developed in Google. Working alongside colleagues across Google, you’ll help make this vision a reality.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship for a team of UX Designers. Lead creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices.
- Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time.
- Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside their core product team to efficiently implement user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
- Promote Google’s culture and principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional and operational excellence.
- Be responsible for and effectively advocate for users in a fast-paced, corporate climate, imparting day-to-day design leadership that creates a shared understanding of the user-centric intersection between design, content, business, and engineering.
