Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 20 years of professional experience or 18 years with an advanced degree.
- Experience with front-end mobile and web technologies.
- UX portfolio demonstrating insights, problem solving, and solutions resulting in impactful outcomes.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working collaboratively with designers, product managers and engineering leaders.
- Search experience.
- Experience in leading large multi-product teams and driving organizational design, career development, operations and culture both within UX organizations as well as in partnership with Product Management and Engineering teams.
- Track record of key contributions to innovative, successful products and UI Platforms.
- Strong managerial and operational skills and the ability to lead at scale.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and advocate designs.

The Search team is looking for an experienced Vice President of UX to contribute to the goal of helping billions of users on their journey in answering their information needs and building new information discovery experiences that meet the changing needs of our users. Search UX drives design strategy and helps set product priorities, teaming closely with executive leaders at Google to define and deliver on the next iteration of the multifaceted product portfolio.

You will identify and set product strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems, and inspire a multidisciplinary UX team to push the boundaries of what’s possible for compelling user experiences that deliver true user value. User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. Responsibilities
- Partner with the Search leaders across product management and engineering to create a compelling product vision and strategic roadmaps.
- Lead all phases of UX design work across the Search Product Portfolio: distilling research, design ideation, prototyping, final spec design, and implementation. Make tough decisions and stand for quality when products are not ready to ship.
- Attract, hire, and grow an exceptional UX team. Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship across a multi-disciplinary organization of interaction designers, visual designers, researchers, prototypers, writers, motion designers, and program managers.
- Foster Google’s culture and product quality principles within the group, while setting new standards in executional excellence.
- Advocate for users responsibly and effectively in a resourceful, fast-paced environment – imparting day-to-day UX leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the user-centric intersection between design, content, business, and engineering.
