Minimum qualifications:
Master’s degree in quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience in quantitative marketing data science, product data science, risk modeling, or similar.
Experience in SQL and one scripting/statistical programming language to implement statistical analysis and machine learning models.
Experience leveraging data insights into storytelling for business stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, or related quantitative discipline.
3 years of relevant work experience, including expertise with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
Experience in controlled experiment design and causal inference methods.
Applied experience with machine learning on large scale computing systems like Hadoop, MapReduce, or similar environments.
Ability to convince business stakeholders and communicate complicated analysis insights to non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated leadership and self-direction, with a willingness to both teach others, and learn new techniques.

The analytics team empowers Google Ads business growth with Machine Learning, Statistical Analytics, Online Experimentation, and Big Data.
As a Data Scientist on the Google Ads Marketing data science team, you will drive measurement, analytics and machine learning modeling initiatives supporting global marketing programs.
You will drive analytics for global customer acquisitions, retention, and growth marketing programs. You will be innovative, analytical, and an effective communicator whose insights enable marketers to develop valuable, highly effective programs. Your work will directly influence Google’s strategy for on-boarding and retaining its advertising customers. In this role, you will design and perform statistical analyses that continuously improve the efficiency and impact of the Google Ads campaign. You will be part of a larger data science community, collaborating with regional and global analysts on their projects. Additionally, you will work across Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams to embed advanced models and measurement into production systems.
Responsibilities
Work with large data sets, and solve complex analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods (such as statistical and machine learning models) as needed, and conduct analysis that includes problem formulation, data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
Design and analyze controlled experiments or counterfactual causal inference studies to examine the incremental impact of Google Ads marketing programs.
Build and prototype analysis pipelines iteratively to provide insights at scale. Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed.
Interact cross-functionally, making business recommendations (e.g., cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis) with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.
Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for business priorities.
