About the job
Finance Project Managers drive critical priorities for Google by leading and assisting in projects of all sizes. Drawing from your strong financial background, you work with a diverse team to manage projects from concept to implementation and keep Google-wide stakeholders informed as you go. You get down into the details of complex analyses without losing sight of the overall objective. When working on multiple projects at once, you intuitively know which issues to highlight and can bring key decision makers together to come up with effective solutions. Once a project is completed, you’re able to clearly communicate the results and draw the key learnings for senior management. You are efficient and organized, making the most of everyone’s abilities and holding the team to a high standard.
The Central Risk and Controls (CRC) team was formed within the Alphabet Controllership organization to advance the mission to leverage efficiencies through the centralization of activities, tools and communication across Finance.
As a Central Risk and Controls IT Lead, you’ll partner closely with members of the Global SOX program management team, broader risk and controls community, and various stakeholders across Finance and Engineering to design and maintain an effective and scalable internal control environment. You’ll also work to identify areas of risk, provide guidance on controls particularly for Segregation of Duties and Restricted Access controls, IT application controls, IT dependent manual controls, and information produced by entity, and influence changes and decisions as the business and systems environment changes.
The name Google came from “googol,” a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency through centralization efforts and automation.
Mitigate risks and reduce deficiencies by providing subject matter expertise to support control environment changes (business, system, process changes).
Support cross-functional projects across Alphabet’s business and product areas, assessing controls impact due to changes in processes or systems, identifying and addressing financial risks throughout the system development life cycle, ensuring controls are ready before launch.
Establish partnerships with control owners, process owners and risk and control specialists to become a key point of contact, a subject matter expert on their projects, and the lead of centralized activities.
