About the job
As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We’re looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
In this role, you will support the Devices and Services organization, which is responsible for a family of consumer hardware products ranging from Pixel smartphones, voice-activated Google Home speakers, the Pixelbook, and much more. In particular, this role will partner with our Global Operations team on communications topics related to how we develop and ship our products, sustainability and environmental efforts, supply chain and logistics, business systems, customer care, and much more. From executive communications and slide development to engaging with media, project management, and event production, you will provide daily communications support for our operations efforts and leadership. You will foster and maintain relationships with executive leaders, key press, and opinion formers, and with Googlers across many functions (e.g. Public Relations, Marketing, Sales, Legal, HR, etc) to keep employees informed, and tell our story externally.
We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders-and our own employees-about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.
Responsibilities
Develop the internal and external communications strategy for the Devices and Services Global Operations team, partnering with executive leaders to ensure the vision and strategy are communicated effectively to a variety of audiences.
Drive messaging and narrative development for the Devices and Services Global Operations team and executive leadership internally/externally (e.g., drafting blog posts, media pitches, talking points, partner communications, slide decks, including team meetings, regional forums and events, speeches and presentation prep materials, and more.)
Represent communications for the Global Operations organization and work with cross-functional partners to develop and refine communications content, and ensure a consistent voice and effective storytelling.
Secure media coverage for major initiatives in business, tech, consumer, and broadcast media outlets, and act as daily media spokesperson, communicating the user benefits of our products/key messages to the press.
