Minimum qualifications:
7 years of experience in managing technical teams as a team lead or manager

3 years of experience in site-level data center leadership

Experience with initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment

Experience leading a team, including mentoring and team development

Preferred qualifications:
Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating large-scale infrastructure and network and compute architecture/lifecycle, and Linux/Unix system administration

Experience managing technical teams, vendor or agreement management, and service delivery

Experience leading and improving Environmental Health and Safety initiatives

Ability to set priorities, goals, objectives, and communicate with the team, partners, and other stakeholders

Understanding of networks and server hardware architecture, including maintenance and repair

Excellent strategic problem-solving skills

Google isn’t just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google’s powerful search technology. As a Hardware Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians. You will oversee the quality installation of server hardware and components and take charge of complicated installations/troubleshooting.

Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google’s Linux cluster). They will also take on the configuration of more complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols. They may lead small project teams on larger installations and develop project contingency plans.

The Data Center Infrastructure Operations (DCIO) team deploys and maintains the hardware components of Google’s compute, storage, and network infrastructure in the most efficient, reliable, secure, and scalable way possible. We monitor the physical infrastructure behind Google’s powerful Search technology. In this role, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians.
