Cloud SQL is the Relational Database offering from Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Cloud SQL supports fully-managed database service hosting of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server database flavors. Cloud SQL enables customers to deploy highly available databases with focuses on simplicity, reliability, durability, and performance at scale. Cloud SQL aims to provide customers the tools to launch, monitor, and operate the SQL databases with minimal overhead in complexity and resource planning. Cloud SQL lets customer focus on their applications while leveraging managed databases for their complex backend needs.
As a MySQL Database Engineer, you will design and implement a highly reliable database with emphasis in security, performance, and scale to meet the requirements of Enterprise customers. Our mission is to empower organizations to adopt a seamless database offering that is fully-managed by GCP, removing the overhead of support and maintenance and allowing them to focus on solving business processes and workflows. As part of this mission, we will be at the forefront of Cloud transformation in the Relational database space, including laying out the blueprint for the next-generation MySQL offerings and building the same.
Responsibilities
Manage release issues like corruption, memory leaks, lock contentions, performance regressions, increased CPU usage, and scalability challenges.
Partner and help drive great cross-functional relationships with internal leadership, stakeholders, and partners to help create highly reliable database offerings by expanding the footprint of SQL products for Cloud.
Develop relationships with key enterprise customers and engage with them to recommend instance sizing, flag settings, other best practices, help customers perform experiments with different settings to tune Cloud SQL(MySQL) instances for their workloads.
Provide input and influence the product roadmap and strategy, while prioritizing pre-existing initiatives to drive multifold returns for the Cloud business broadly and the production teams specifically.
