About the job
As a Cloud Developer Programs Engineer (DPE), you stand at the intersection of a technology movement shaping our world – between the people who build it and the customers who use it. Developer Programs Engineers (DPEs) are the engineering wing of Developer Relations. We ensure that Google Cloud and related open source projects like Kubernetes, Beam and TensorFlow are amazing for developers. As “customer zero” we’re the first developers to use upcoming services and ensure they meet customer’s needs. We provide feedback on API design, platform consistency and functionality. We write sample code and work with our technical writing teams to produce developer documentation, quickstarts and tutorials. We release open source code, participate in developer forums and help troubleshoot developer problems.
As a Developer Programs Engineer, you will work cross-functionally and with external developers to directly and indirectly improve the Cloud SQL developer experience. In this role you will focus on how to improve the use of Cloud SQL from Kubernetes deployments. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to understand where there is friction in using Cloud SQL with Kubernetes and GKE, then work with internal teams to propose solutions, drive stakeholder approval of your proposals, and collaborate with the team to implement and document solutions.
Responsibilities
Partner with product managers, engineering teams, technical writers, and customers to understand and improve the Cloud SQL developer experience.
Contribute to maintenance and evolution of the Cloud SQL connectors and write samples to demonstrate their capabilities.
