Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of professional experience or 13 years with an advanced degree.
Experience with infrastructure and building products for kids and families.
Management experience in leading engineering organizations.
Preferred qualifications:
20 years of professional experience.
Experience working with regulations, legal, and policy.
Experience managing geographically distributed teams.
Team leadership experience building and growing amazing talent within the organization, and creating a sense of purpose and positive culture.
Passion for making products better for kids and families.
About the job
Our mission is to create and enable useful, fun, and enriching experiences for kids everywhere. As Engineering Director, you will lead the software engineering team for Google Kids and Families. You will focus on the vision and strategy for the engineering function and collaborate with leadership across product areas to create outstanding experiences for kids and families. You will also be responsible for mentoring and developing a talented team of senior engineers and driving execution in a complex environment.
Responsibilities
Partner closely with Product Management leadership to define the vision for Google Kids and Families.
Lead the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
Manage and grow a team of software engineers across varying levels of seniority.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and across different teams within Platforms and Ecosystems.
Develop and grow leadership talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning and retention strategies for key talent in a fast growth environment.
