Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
15 years of professional experience, including 10 years of experience leading engineering teams building user-facing products, technical infrastructure, and supporting data systems.
Experience at global organizations with cross-functional, product, or engineering elements.
Experience managing multiple executive stakeholders and completing projects.
Preferred qualifications:
Ability to analyze organizational issues, technical matters, or data analysis in order to draw insights, steer, and coach teams in the right direction.
Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Fosters innovation by leading teams with a growth mindset of experimentation, learning, and iteration.
Committed to continuously improving engineering development practices and processes.
High degree of comfort with ambiguity and change management.

As the Director of Engineering, Marketplaces, Google Shopping, you and your team will work to onboard, retain, and engage merchants of all sizes. You will work to solve technical problems that are fundamental to the shopping experience of our users and provide merchants with the tools, technology and scale to grow in today’s increasingly digital world. In this role, you will work to build and foster an inclusive culture celebrating diverse perspectives, and model Google’s values through the three respects – respect the user, respect the opportunity, and respect each other.
Responsibilities
Bring and continue to develop an understanding of the Merchant domain, spanning product and infrastructure problem-spaces, technologies, and opportunities, using this to guide the strategy of the team.
Prioritize the user as you use your technical skills, business acumen, and creativity to solve complicated ambiguous problems.
Work effectively in a cross-functional, global environment to solve problems collaboratively.
Act as a thought leader, advocating for technical choices and infrastructure strategies that support the greater organization. Ensure teams are prioritizing the highest value parts of the problem space; balance product and infrastructure goals.
Mentor and foster the growth of current and future leaders.
