About the job
Every day hundreds of millions of people around the world rely on Google Maps to get information about places, decide where to go, and to safely and smoothly get to their destination. Our mission in Geo is to assist people as they navigate, explore and get things done in the world.
In this role, you will be UX leader helping to create the future of Google Maps. You will lead the Core Apps UX team as the Director of UX alongside your Product Management, Engineering, and Program Management peers. You will drive the design of highly useful and compelling experiences, focusing on key aspects of Maps, including: search, place information, Live View (AR), Street View, and the map itself.
As a User Experience (UX) leader, you will help define and drive the future of Google design. You will apply your passion for design, engineering, and the impossible to guide research and design processes, mentor talented members of your team, and collaborate with leaders within UX, Product and Engineering across all of Google’s products. You will identify and set platform strategy, envision user (driver, dealer, buyer, auto manufacturer, and third party developer) interactions, and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
User experience is at the forefront of how we create intuitive, innovative, and beautiful products that people love. We strive to learn and understand our users’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to gather insights that inform product strategy and design. Our UX teams include designers, researchers, content strategists, and engineers who are passionate about quality, usability, and simplicity. We work on collaborative teams to solve complex challenges and craft experiences that highlight our products’ unique capabilities and personalities. Our work touches billions while exemplifying a key principle that is core to Google’s philosophy: “Focus on the user and all else will follow.”
Lead UX for Geo Core Apps; ensure excellence in all phases of UX design work, including: research, concepts, prototypes, detailed design, and implementation.
Manage the UX team across sites, with particular attention to a positive team culture.
