About the job
Technical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help center queries and FAQs. Technical writers play a big part at Google. They are a key link between engineers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.
You develop complex, in-depth communications for internal and external audiences and manage projects that involve coordinating multiple junior writers.
The Cloud Security Knowledge Exchange team organizes knowledge on how Cloud Security programs, products, and infrastructure satisfy Google Cloud customers’ needs, with a focus on regulated industries cloud and trusted partner cloud.
In this role, you will seek out and prioritize technical challenges of immense value. You will deliver clear, compelling communications and infuse content with credible knowledge of the technology and infrastructure behind it.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
Inspire engineering audiences, creating credible and authoritative narratives highlighting the domain’s technical challenges and opportunities.
Deliver and execute on an organizational-wide communications strategy, tied to both the organization’s culture and business objectives.
Improve messaging by identifying, scoping, and conducting internal audience research and market analysis.
Develop and execute small-to-medium scale campaigns, communications, and programs.
Support and facilitate discussion between leaders internally and cross-functionally when ambiguous situations need clarification to move the team forward, and partner with Cloud Security leadership to craft compelling, strategic business narratives.
