About the job
As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in our supply chain organization, you will join the team responsible for providing manufacturing support and guidance for Google’s packaging and electro-mechanical products.
In this role, you will have extensive understanding of the tools, processes, and techniques used to manufacture electro-mechanical products. You will be a valued partner to the Product Development team through your industry knowledge, experience identifying, and qualifying advanced manufacturing techniques and your Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Lead rack integration line development and qualification at manufacturing partners.
Perform Design for Manufacturability/Assembly and Design for Cost analyses for sheet metal (soft tool), plastic injection molded, metal stamped (hard tool), and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies, effectively communicating required design and material changes to contract manufacturers and engineering.
Identify and qualify manufacturers/extended workforce for precision sheet metal, high-volume metal stamping, plastic injection molding, tooling, and level 3 electro-mechanical assemblies.
Provide comprehensive mechanical manufacturing engineering support to global manufacturing partners. Resolve manufacturing and field challenges by escalating design, manufacturing, and product test issues when appropriate.
Use a Product Data Management system to create and maintain Bills of Materials, Approved Vendor Lists, and Engineering Change Notifications/Orders in support of Google products. Drive process improvements that reduce process cycle times/cost, while maintaining quality.
