Minimum qualifications:
IP networking experience in a production environment.
Experience in network routing protocol design and troubleshooting in BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS.
Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Go, or Python.
Experience with major network equipment providers (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Nokia, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
3 years of experience with a service provider or hyperscale network in engineering or design roles.
Experience developing networking products, technologies, software, and protocols.
Substantial operational experience with carrier-class routers and switches.
Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Core and Compute Edge Network Engineering provides comprehensive long-term development, automation, and engineering of Google’s backbone and attachment points at the Compute Edge. New Product Introduction is a development function responsible for introducing new hardware, topology, and network designs to the network. Specifically, the New Product Introduction team’s mission is to provide technology continuity which allows the network to continuously scale, constantly increase efficiency and satisfy new use cases demanded by the business. In this position, you will focus on the attachment point(s) between the Core network and the compute equipment in Google’s data centers.

Responsibilities
Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of networks from inception and design, to qualification and validation, through deployment, operation, and optimization.
Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
Work with other team members and groups to analyze requirements or potential problems and proactively develop solutions and policy recommendations.
Partner with Google’s internal application groups and design network infrastructure which meets their networking requirements.
Lead development of Google’s production network infrastructure through published engineering design documents and specifications, lead the requirement analysis, engineering design, and solution development of Google’s production network infrastructure.
