Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in statistical analysis and coding with Python and SQL/MySQL.
Experience with fraud, security, and threat analysis in the context of internet-related products/activities.
Experience using mathematical techniques to provide analysis and recommendations.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience using external Python libraries (e.g., Numpy, Scikit, and Pandas for data exploration and visualization).
Experience in Machine Learning (e.g., tools, prepare training sets, and train classifiers).
Experience with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, and sampling methods.
Demonstrated skills in selecting the right statistical tools given a data analysis problem.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent leadership with willingness to teach and learn new techniques.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. As a Scaled Abuse Analyst, you will bring an analytical focus and statistical methods to a diverse range of challenges ranging from measuring quality, developing abuse metrics, and prioritizing key initiatives across Google Play, particularly relating to developer and app abuse. You will evaluate and improve the Google Play ecosystem. You’ll approach each data source with an appropriate degree of skepticism, understand and quantify how far the source can be trusted, apply critical thinking to the data, and think through the impact.

Responsibilities
Conduct analysis that includes data gathering, exploratory data analysis, feature identification, selection, and validation.
Build analysis pipelines to provide insights at scale, develop comprehensive understanding of Google data structures and metrics, and advocate for changes where needed for both product development and improvement.
Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams across Engineering, Policy, Analytics, and cross-product abuse fighting teams.
Leverage Google Play domain expertise to extract relevant features from datasets for use in abuse prevention efforts.
Work closely with engineers to identify opportunities for design, and assess improvements to Google products.
