Platforms Engineering team performs research, design, and development for the hardware, software, and networking technologies that power all of Google’s products and services. Platforms offers impactful projects at every level of the technology stack, from the chip level to massive distributed systems design and software development.
As a Software Engineer in Platforms Storage, you will develop kernel software, embedded firmware, and/or storage software for hard disk drives (HDDs) and next-generation disruptive storage technologies. You will design, develop, and maintain big data analytics infrastructure to help monitor, troubleshoot, and derive insights from storage devices in Google’s massive infrastructure. You will ensure a high level of quality in your software by writing tests for your code and leveraging Google’s leading-edge test and release infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Develop Linux drivers, kernel storage features and user space interfaces optimized for HDDs to maximize performance, security, and capacity.
Design and implement software solutions to enhance storage security.
Develop software tools and utilities to optimize the lifecycle of storage devices.
Enhance solutions for storage performance tuning.
Develop storage analytics infrastructure and use it to monitor, troubleshoot, and derive insights.
