Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Experience with Android development.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.
Experience in device connectivity (e.g., Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy).
Experience in cryptography and protocol security.

Android’s Nearby and Integrated Devices team specializes in radio-based proximity and device-to-device connectivities. Our products and platform utilize an array of signals to determine presence and uses a variety of connectivity technologies to build better experiences in discovery, sharing, device setup, and management.
Fast Pair and Presence is the fundamental technology enabling devices to sense and recognize each other. It is the fabric for that facilitates multi-device interaction in the physical world. We are building the infrastructure to power differentiated 1P and 3P experiences by providing presence intelligence to our partners. Find My Device is an important initiative for Android, focused on enabling an ecosystem of peripheral devices which can be found on Android and other Google properties.

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor and train other team members on design techniques, and coding standards.
Set the long-term technical vision and architecture for the platform with engineering, product, and UX leads.
Provide leadership for our software engineering efforts by driving architecture and software design.
Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Work across product areas and other Nearby properties to set our joint technical roadmaps.
