Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

10 years of software development experience, or 8 years with an advanced degree

3 years of experience with Android frameworks development, performance tuning and power optimization

Experience with software development using Java

Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

15 years of software development experience

5 years of experience with Android frameworks development and Java coding.

Experience with building full-stack Android applications, ranging from building user interfaces to low-level Android libraries

Experience with Android Platform Development / SoC bringup and wearable products

Experience with influencing multiple teams of engineers concurrently while partnering on broad development initiatives

You are an imaginative engineer with a passion for wanting to develop the next generation of Google powered smartwatches. On the Wear OS Platform Engineering team, you will be focused on developing Google’s “Wear OS By Google” software platform that powers devices from our global partners. On this team, you’ll be responsible for developing frameworks and services optimized for the wearable platform.

Responsibilities

Improve performance and battery life of the Wear OS Platform and Devices while enhancing product architecture / direction and resilience.

Enable Google provided services while optimizing for battery life.

Work closely with our SoC and hardware development partners on utilizing their capabilities/generating requirements on the next generation.

Drive features end-to-end, from design to developer outreach, and actively participate in feature planning and work distribution.

Help to grow the team, and lead and mentor junior team members on design techniques and coding standards.
