Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of development experience with C++.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, and/or cross-business projects.
Experience in Rust, in the open source community.
Experience architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems.

The Fuchsia Tools team delivers a robust, scalable tooling platform for all Fuchsia developers. Specifically, we are responsible for FFX (i.e., Fuchsia’s primary host-side CLI tool which runs on Linux and macOS), Fuchsia’s on-device developer services, and their communication protocols. These tools are used across Google as well as in Fuchsia’s emerging open-source community. Our mission is to enable and delight Fuchsia developers with all aspects of Fuchsia development.
As a Staff Software Engineer serving as the team’s Technical Lead, you will manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team. Responsibilities
Architect a Rust-based platform for an ecosystem of developer tools, runtimes, and services to interact with Fuchsia devices.
Translate (and help to expand) product vision into engineering objectives, and be accountable for delivering them.
Provide technical guidance, judgment, and mentoring to a team of strong engineers, helping them grow personally and professionally.
Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Maintain strong partnerships (including our 90+ contributors) and work closely with customers to ensure our tools fit well with their ecosystems.
