Minimum qualifications:
15 years experience leading engineering organizations working on multiple products.
Experience in compute, distributed systems, networking, and storage.
Experience of private and public cloud design in the areas of virtualization, infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing, networking, data storage, Hadoop, MapReduce, and security.
Preferred qualifications:
Advanced degree in Computer Science or other Engineering discipline.
Track Record of innovation and technical contributions to research and a company/industry/academia.
About the job
As the Vice President of Engineering on the Cloud/Technical Infrastructure (TI) team, you will drive our compute infrastructure and performance solutions and support for product areas from Cloud to Search, Ads, Maps, YouTube, and beyond. Taken together, you will be responsible for essentially all compute products running on Google’s infrastructure and directly impacting the customer value and efficiency of this infrastructure. You will provide technical vision, drive strategy around solutions, and successfully execute across numerous proprietary and open source technologies to solve difficult problems for our customers. Google has a long history of setting the standard in distributed computing and you will be charting our course over the coming decade.
As an ideal candidate, you will have deep experience building software platforms and compute infrastructure at scale and deep expertise around emerging technologies, with the understanding of addressing the myriad needs of the most demanding internal and external customers. To be a successful candidate, you will be creative and analytical with a proven track record of effectively bringing innovative software solutions to market, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities
Develop a strategic vision for the organization to constantly innovate and implement novel solutions, which will maintain our trajectory as the industry leader in next-generation cloud software and services.
Design, build, and deploy the node and cluster software infrastructure that powers all of Google and Cloud services managing robust and scalable systems in order to get ahead of the exponential market demand.
Work effectively across engineering teams to build, design, implement, and maintain Google’s software products, both internal and external.
Build bridges with internal partners (program management, engineering productivity, and site reliability teams among others) to ensure alignment on roles and deliverables.
Provide managerial and technical leadership to a rapidly growing and evolving technical organization with appropriate structure, process, coaching, and mentoring to enable a high performing team.
