Responsibilities
The Medicaid Product Strategy & Optimization Organization’s purpose is to accelerate product strategy and create a differentiated value proposition for Humana’s Medicaid segment. As a centrally positioned function this team coordinates with Medicaid executive leadership and business units across the enterprise to set actionable strategy and support transformational initiatives through ideation, concept development to launch. The Principal will consult with executive leadership and functional teams to afford strategic direction and value-added insights that advance product strategy and national operations for Humana’s Medicaid segment. This new role will be focused on development of an agile, product based operating model focused on delivering customer value while simultaneously improving agility, efficiency, and innovation
The successful candidate for this high impact role requires expertise in product strategy formulation and communication, people and stakeholder management, as well as having astute business acumen and a deep understanding of managed care administration and the healthcare industry.
Key responsibilities include:
Support Humana Medicaid National Operational Executive Leadership as a strategist, consultant, and implementer to advance national product strategy in alignment with business objectives
Establish partnerships with Medicaid functional areas to adopt and mature a customer focused product-driven operating model
Partner with key Medicaid and IT Leaders to incorporate agility and collaboration in our Operating Model as core principles to deliver transformational change and superior business outcomes
Work with executive leadership to establish a strategic and operational framework that establishes and enables business goals and key results
Support operational teams in mapping Medicaid Customer Journeys to inform Customer Value, Value Chain/Pools, and Products
Support operational teams in mapping capabilities required to deliver value and assess capability maturity and gaps
Drive a portfolio of complex program/project initiatives to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives
Form and lead cross-functional teams of internal Humana and external consulting resources to advance and execute strategic initiatives.
Consult on the development and assist in the implementation of the Medicaid Value Management Office and related portfolio management process
Support development of team culture and adoption of innovative, agile methodologies across Medicaid Product Strategy and the broader Medicaid segment
Provides recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance, and as an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a strong record of academic achievement
8+ years healthcare experience
8+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in strategic/advisory services
2-5 years of project/people leadership
Deep healthcare expertise with working knowledge of managed care administration
Strategic and project management capabilities coupled with strong analytic and financial acumen
Excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure organizational alignment and buy-in
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communications
Experience in executive presentation and ability to influence decision making
Experience operating in a highly matrixed environment
Experience working with Agile teams (SAFe, Scrum, etc.)
Ability to operate in a faced paced environment under tight deadlines
Flexible scheduling (i.e. – occasional nights and weekends)
Preferred Qualifications
MBA programs with a specialization in Healthcare Management
Experience at a leading strategy consulting firm
Medicaid managed care experience
Project Management and Process Improvement qualifications
Additional Information
Role will include travel (10-25% of time). EST time zone is highly preferred for location and working hours
Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
