Your Role and Responsibilities

External Relations Professional, IBM Consulting, Business Transformation

Are you a creative storyteller who follows emerging trends in technology and business and how they’re impacting our everyday lives? Are you passionate about topics like the evolving world of work and the changing nature of customer experience, global supply chains, AI and the role technology can play to improve decision-making and empower people?

We are seeking an outstanding External Relations Professional to drive thought leadership communications that elevate IBM Consulting’s experts and client work around customer experience supply chain, finance and the future of work/human resources.

As an External Relations Professional, you will drive forward IBM’s point-of-view on how businesses are evolving in the current business climate to drive growth while increasing operational efficiency and sustainability. The topic focus will include how to create value for customers and employees at every touch-point with a human-centric approach to business transformation through process design, product engineering, data and AI. You would also focus on the transformation of critical processes like finance and procurement, talent and how technologies are enabling professionals to make better decisions and focus on higher-value work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Drive exciting news around IBM’s Consulting’s thought leadership position and our experts’ forward-thinking point-of-view on the future of business and technology.
• Continually mine compelling, personal stories from IBM Consulting’s expert workforce that can be shared with external audiences through a variety of channels.
• Craft media and influencer strategies for dynamic outreach and differentiated narratives.
• Develop and deploy written content, including strategic plans, blogs, pitches, press releases, op-eds, and other thought leadership material.
• Develop internal assets and processes to ensure consistent global messaging and create a buzz around key narratives.
• Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives and other spokespeople.
• Collaborate with strategic, functional and corporate communications extended teams to maintain cohesive messaging in support of specified thought leadership spaces.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 8+ years in media relations, marketing communications, or similar experience in-house or in an agency setting.
• Hands-on experience driving in-depth feature stories with top tier press.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Ability to write compelling stories and arguments
• Hold connections with top-tier reporters, social media pundits and other industry influencers.
• Hands-on experience working across myriad categories of media as well as social platforms.
• Ability to synthesize complex technologies, products, and market challenges.
• Multitasker; able to set priorities in a fast-paced environment while driving progress on multiple fronts.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
