Graphics Research at Intel invites you to join its world-class team as a Software Development Engineer (SDE). This team is the research arm of Intel’s Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) business unit. This is an exciting opportunity for those who like to be part of the journey with a world-class team that leads and defines the future cutting-edge technology and experiences in graphics. The computer graphics industry is at an inflection point today and top-notch advanced graphics research and engineering is KEY for Intel to be the leader in this era. As an SDE, you would work with industry-leading experts (both internal and external) to deliver technologies to AXG verticals to bring best-in-class GPUs to market.
As a SWE, you would work closely with researchers to develop software (frameworks, algorithms, and applications) as required to enable and optimize specific graphics features, capabilities, solutions, reference platforms, or Intel products. May include the development of reference ray tracing software and improving or enabling partner designs to obtain the greatest value of Intel ray tracing products, the development and/or optimization of workloads for ray tracing benchmarks, and workloads for simulation, performance analysis, and architecture recommendations.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years’ experience, to include at least three years of post-degree related work experience, and a focus on graphics. Or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of experience and a focus on graphics. Or PhD Degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years of experiences and a focus on graphics
Experience in any combination of the following:
- Understanding of modern real-time rendering game engines and rendering techniques
- Understanding of rasterization pipeline and modern GPU architectures
- Familiarity with graphics APIs (e.g. Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX)
- Excellent programming skills (C, C++ and Python)
- Knowledge of high-level shading languages (e.g. GLSL, HLSL)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in designing task-, data-, and pipeline parallel algorithms and systems.
- Experience creating real-time rendering effects using programmable shaders.
- Background in applying machine learning techniques to graphics with familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
- Familiarity with serial and parallel programming environments used in real-time rendering such as C, C++, TBB, CUDA and OpenCL.
- Knowledge of GPU architecture and/or GPU workloads and performance characteristics.
- Experience using profilers and debugging tools for performance analysis.

Working Model
This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
