Job Description

The Intel NUC Group is seeking a talented, passionate, and highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join its Engineering Team in Hillsboro, OR. This individual will work on NUC-G’s mini-PC products and play a key role in supporting our commitment to mechanical design excellence. The ideal candidate will have experience in using professional CAD software and familiarity with 3D printing for rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Work within a cross-functional engineering team that consists of system architects, hardware engineers, and thermomechanical engineers, to plan and execute new and differentiated mini-PC products.

  • Work closely with our internal Industrial Design team to take new design concepts and create practical mechanical designs and rapid prototypes.

  • Create and/or modify 3D CAD models and renderings, based on the team’s vision for the product, to accelerate ideation and new product innovations.

  • Document designs and concepts and how they achieve the product’s objectives and be able to verbally present and elaborate on these ideas with the broader product development team.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

Hands on knowledge with MCAD design tools (e.g., Creo or Solidworks).

Excellent written communication skills to clearly document all the work done as part of the internship to allows others to advance in the future.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with thermal and structural analytical tools (e.g., Flotherm, Icepak, Abacus, etc.).
Experience with operating 3D printing machines and other rapid prototyping technologies).

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
