Innovative product leadership requires creative, motivated people to develop the next generation of technologies for our customers. As an optical design engineer, you will be responsible for the design and manufacture of micro-optic components for novel testing and assembly methods used in high volume production. This will include developing product requirements and performance targets, conducting optical and mechanical simulations, planning and executing DoE’s, characterizing and evaluating prototype components and developing manufacturing systems. Interacting with a broad interdisciplinary team composed of scientists and engineers in laser development, chemical processing, optical design, chip assembly, component packaging and manufacturing, you will be a key member of the team delivering micro-optic components from proof of concept designs into high volume products.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
– Master’s degree in Physics or Photonics with
knowledge of high-power laser beam delivery and
manipulation
– 3+ years experience in designing, developing,
modelling and tolerancing micro-optic components
and systems
– Experience in specifying, planning and delivering
engineering projects in line with business priorities
– Ability to gather, analyze and present technical data
in a clear and concise manner
Preferred Qualifications:
– PhD / EngD in Optical (or Micro-mechanical) Design
– 3+ years experience in using design tools such as
Zeemax, Matlab, Python or similar
– Experience in using tolerance analysis as part of the
design process (eg Monte Carlo simulation and
sensitivity analysis)
– 3+ years experience in high accuracy, micro mechanical
and/or optical component manufacturing
– Familiarity with key metrology techniques for
mechanical and optical measurement
– Experience in delivering leading edge technology
