Director of Camera and Depth Responsibilities:
Lead a team of engineers and scientists to develop breakthrough cameras and depth sensing systems optimized for size, power, performance for all FRL consumer HW devices.
Drive the execution of technology roadmaps to deliver on the above. Particular emphasis on miniaturization and power reduction of systems.
Support strong technology (exploration, definition, development, validation) and product subsystem development (definition, specification, architecture, design, verification, and production) processes.
Support planning activities as needed throughout the year (long range, yearly, spot).
Manage and drive deliverables to schedule and budget.
Manage relationships and partnerships with various third parties to deliver the above in the depth/ camera space (illuminators, modules, image processing).
Maintain a knowledge of the key industry and academic players, as well as industry trends and disruptive technologies. Assess and recommend emerging technologies through close partnership with external, industry leading suppliers.
Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with other teams to ensure system compatibility, strong support on deliverables, and technology roadmaps efficiencies.
Create career development plans, manage performance, create performance reviews, and recruit leaders and engineers and scientists.
Provide team guidance, feedback, education, coaching and mentoring.
Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion within the team.
Minimum Qualifications:
MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
12+ years of work experience in research and development of camera or depth systems & technologies for consumer applications.
Experience with architecture of imaging/depth systems, component development, opto-mechanical-electrical design for machine perception or photographic camera applications and/or depth systems applications, integration in product, testing, characterization, and manufacturing technologies.
Experience with development of algorithms on imaging signal processing and/or depth pipelines, driving image/depth quality, and optimization of implementation and quality for product.
Experience with launching imaging/depth subsystems in multiple high volume small factor consumer electronic devices.
10+ years of engineering management experience leading complex organizations that create large scale impact via the development of imaging/depth technologies.
Knowledge of the CMOS imager industry players, knowledge of industry trends and disruptive technologies in imaging and depth perception.
Preferred Qualifications:
Camera/depth module supply chain knowledge.
Operational experience.
Experience in management of Technology portfolios.
